The Vacaville Police Department says officers were conducting a probation search at a home on Shady Glen Avenue when they saw a man sitting in a black Kia Forte parked out front.

The car’s license plate was connected to 27-year-old Nolan Bell, who officers discovered had a $45,000 warrant out for his arrest related to identity theft, fraud and possession of stolen property.

While officers were approaching Bell, the police department says shots were fired from an officer’s weapon. Investigators did not say what happened during that interaction.

Bell was able to drive away and led police on a high-speed chase, which ended when officers lost sight of the car as it headed north on Pleasants Valley Road near Gates Canyon Road.

Police say he later walked into Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa with a gunshot wound and was taken into custody.

No officers were hurt in the shooting.

This is a developing story.
