    California Governor Gavin Newsom recently signed landmark legislation introduced by Senator Holly J. Mitchell that addresses the inequities of maternal care for black mothers and infants. Senate Bill 464, the Dignity in Pregnancy and Childbirth Act, requires implicit bias training for perinatal providers involved in services at hospitals and birth centers.     SACRAMENTO COUNTY — Two people were killed Tuesday morning in a crash on Jackson Road. Around 10:20 a.m., a Honda sedan was going north on Eagles Nest Road when the female driver either ran the stop sign or stopped and proceeded in front of a big rig going east on Jackson Road.   • Fresno driver survives crash involving big rig that sheared off roof of his car

    FRESNO, Calif. (KTXL) — The California Highway Patrol is reminding drivers about safety after an early Tuesday morning crash in Fresno. CHP said a man in a sedan crashed into the back of a big rig, shearing off the roof of his car. Speed and low visibility due to fog played a role in the collision. The driver walked away from the mangled vehicle with non-life threatening injuries.

  • San Joaquin County authorities investigating a shooting on Rutledge Way in Stockton

    STOCKTON, Calif. (KTXL) — The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting near 1600 Rutledge Way in Stockton. The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. Monday. When deputies arrived at the scene, they located one victim with a gunshot wound. The male victim was transported to a nearby hospital. Authorities said his injuries may be life threatening.     TURLOCK, Calif. (KTXL) — The Turlock Police Department is investigating the death of a 15-year-old boy who died at Crane Park Monday night. “It’s really, really hard.     SUTTER COUNTY, Calif. (KTXL) — The California Highway Patrol has identified the officer who was injured Saturday morning after being struck by an SUV.
