The Sacramento Regional Transit voted to permanently close the station located at 7th and K Streets. The vote was unanimous. Right now, there is no word on what day the station will permanently close.

    Crash Leaves Dump Truck in Flames

    MODESTO — A car crash at a Modesto intersection left a dump truck in flames this morning. It happened just after 11:45 a.m. at Finch and Mitchell Roads. Firefighters say the dump truck and a smaller car caught on fire, sparking flames throughout the truck. Crews were eventually able to douse the flames. Two patients were transported to area hospitals.

    SACRAMENTO — A man who was taken to a hospital after driving away after being shot has passed away, the man’s family tells FOX40. The victim, whose name the family says was Calvin Goldsmith, died less than an hour ago at UC Davis Medical Center. Sacramento police reported a shooting had taken place on the 3700 block of Branch Street earlier this afternoon.     Deputies Investigating Body Found in Walnut Grove’s Steamboat Slough

    WALNUT GROVE — Sacramento County officials are trying to determine the identity of a man whose body was found in Steamboat Slough. Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene just after 2:30 p.m. after reports of a body found abut five miles south of Grand Island Mansion. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office is working to determine the identity of the victim, who is an adult man.

    2015 CIF Sac-Joaquin Football Playoff Brackets Unveiled

    The CIF Sac-Joaquin Section unveiled its 2015 high school football playoff brackets today. 78 teams will compete across seven divisions for the right to hang a section championship banner in their school gymnasium. Teams are numerically seeded, with the higher seeds hosting the lower seeds. The first round of games begins Friday, November 13.     ORANGEVALE — A SWAT team surrounded a home in Orangevale as police cleared the scene of an “active shooter” Saturday evening. Police say shortly after 9 p.m. a man, later identified as 61-year-old Wesley Martin Bennett, walked outside of his home on 6700 block of Main Ave. and fired his gun straight into the air about 3-5 times.     DOWNTOWN SACRAMENTO — New solar panel renderings for the Golden 1 Center have been released. Officials say Downtown Sacramento’s soon-to-be arena will be as sustainable and energy efficient as possible. SPI, the Shanghai, China-based company with a U.S. headquarters in Roseville, will install the solar panels. The panels covering the roof will told only about five degrees, so they will look the same as they do on the renderings. The system output is designed to produce between 750-771 kilowatts.
