Kirsten Kellar is a sports anchor and reporter for FOX40 news. She joined the team in October 2022 and is thrilled to be doing what she loves in her home state.
Kirsten was born and raised in the Bay Area where she got her bachelor’s degree in communication at San Francisco State.
Growing up, she’s always had a passion for sports. She played softball, baseball, and danced competitively. Kirsten went on to dance professionally for the arena football team, the San Jose Sabercats. Afterwards, she had the honor to cheer for the Goldrush of the San Francisco 49ers for four seasons.
Before Sacramento, Kirsten worked in Reno, Nevada for two years at Nevada Sports Net. During her time in Reno, she worked as a sports host, reporter, and anchor. She gained experience producing and hosting hour-long sportscasts, directing a documentary, and sideline reporting. Prior to that, she worked at KRON4 television station and 95.7 The Game radio station in San Francisco where many of her experiences have proved to be invaluable lessons she still uses today.
Kirsten’s career began as an entertainment reporter, where she was granted the opportunity to interview stars and athletes on the red carpet traveling to five Super Bowls. From there, she realized interviewing athletes and getting to pair her passion for sports along with storytelling was where her dreams came to life as a sports reporter.
Off-camera Kirsten is always on the go. She loves spending time with her husband, Jason, and going on new adventures. From hiking, traveling the world, and trying new restaurants. The pair have a Siberian husky named Charles and are eager to learn more about the Sacramento community and everything it has to offer.
