Kristin Vartan

Coming to FOX40 News is a homecoming, as Kristin was born in Modesto, and raised in Turlock, CA! Kristin Vartan is a Reporter and Fill-in News/Weather Anchor at FOX40 News. She comes to Sacramento, after two years as a News/Weather Anchor and Reporter at 23ABC News Bakersfield.

At her previous station, she was a leader in political and entertainment coverage: interviewing Governor Gavin Newsom, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and many others.

In her time as a journalist, Kristin has reported live on wildfires, snowstorms, hostage situations, standoffs, double homicides, alleged governmental corruption, homelessness and protests, and has a passion for highlighting minorities and people of color who are trailblazers in the community.

Her training ground for her craft: studying journalism at the University of Southern California (M.A) and Pepperdine University (B.A) and interviewing public figures for E! News, The Hollywood Reporter, Billboard Magazine, and Entertainment Weekly.

She has held the mic to A-listers like Michael Douglas, Harrison Ford, Daniel Craig (James Bond), Shania Twain, Hailee Steinfeld, Jamie Lee Curtis, Sienna Miller, Elle Fanning, and Rita Wilson.

When Kristin is not on-air, she loves exploring new coffee shops with family and friends, singing at the top of her lungs (because TV news people use their diaphragms too), writing, and public speaking (she has been a panelist at USC, a guest speaker at UC San Diego, Pepperdine University, and a guest lecturer at CSU Bakersfield).

Kristin also has a deep love for fashion, but she believes that an outfit’s best accessory is kindness and a vocation for making the world a better place, through every story she tells and every action off-camera.
