Hello beautiful Northern California! I am beyond excited to be back in my home state telling the stories that matter most to you! I’m joining the FOX40 team after spending 3 years as a General Assignment Reporter down by the border in McAllen, Texas. I did a little bit of everything there, including anchoring on the weekends and reporting on immigration, crime, major flooding, and even a hurricane…oh, and I did it in 2 languages.
My love for sports (football specifically) turned me into a sideline football reporter in South Texas and together, our amazing sports team won the 2022 TEXAS BROADCAST NEWS AWARD for best “Television Sports Special.” When I was just starting out in this industry, I actually worked as a production assistant writing sports highlights down in Los Angeles for KCAL9/KCBS2. So if you ever want to talk sports, I’m all ears!
As much as I love sports, news has my heart. My favorite stories to tell are the ones where I’m able to help people and make a meaningful impact on the community we share. One story I’ll never forget is that of Flor Cervantes. We found out she was living in a home with a leaky roof that was causing mold. The mother couldn’t afford to fix it and was very worried it would affect her son Hiram’s health…he has a congenital heart defect. Less than 2 hours after the story aired, I got a call from a man that’s in the roofing business. He offered to build the family a completely new roof…for FREE. The mother was in tears. It’s the goodness in people that I get to witness that makes this job so rewarding.
I was born and raised in West Covina…a city in Southern California that will always be home. Family is everything to me. I’m the oldest of four and the proud daughter of Mexican parents who taught me the value of hard work and the meaning of character. I’m proud of my Mexican roots and just as proud to be American.
