Health Matters: October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the second most common newly diagnosed cancer – and the second leading cause of cancer death among American women.

The American Cancer Society estimates, more than 230,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, and 40,000 will die from the disease. But there have also been strides – advances in early detection methods, to surgical options.

We speak with Dr. Richard Bold, a surgical oncologist with UC Davis Health System about surgical options, including mastectomy.
