An El Dorado County winery is rolling out a Beaujolais-style wine just ahead of the holidays.
Gwinllan Estate Winery in Somerset is using a French technique to produce their Premier Nouveau wine.
Winemaker Jonathan Pack says it’s nice to offer a change of pace from wines that take years to come to market.
“This is the perfect wine for that instant gratification where you’re crushing it, pressing it, and you’re going to be drinking it in about six weeks. So it’s just coming up with wines you’re not typically going to get anywhere else,” Jonathan Pack said.
The winery is producing such small quantities of the wine that the Pack family bottles it by hand. The family said the wine is typically a big holiday hit. But like many, they don’t know if they’ll be able to count on a holiday uptick in business in light of the pandemic.
