Sheriff’s say that they have broken up an alleged rooster fighting ring operating at an abandoned dairy farm about seven miles north of Patterson.

A few of the men got away by jumping into the San Joaquin River, sheriff’s say.

Searching the building, deputies reportedly found about 50 dead roosters – along with 35 live roosters inside of wood boxes.

At this point in the investigation, no one has been arrested, sheriff’s say.
