KLAMATH (AP) — Authorities say three inmates and a staff member have been injured in a riot at a prison firefighting camp in Northern California.
State correction officials say about 40 inmates were involved in the riot Monday at Alder Creek Conservation Camp.
Authorities say three inmates were treated for minor injuries along with a staff member who was hit in the head and chest.
Staffers used pepper spray to break up the riot. There’s no word on what prompted the incident.
Alder Creek Conservation Camp houses about 100 minimum-security inmates who perform conservation projects and battle wildfires in Humboldt and Del Norte Counties.
The inmates involved in the riot were removed from the camp and are being held at Pelican Bay State Prison.
