(KTXL) – The U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals has put a hold on a judge’s recent ruling that overturned California’s decades-old ban on assault weapons.

The order comes in response to a challenge to the ruling filed by the state.

California Attorney General Rob Bonta said that Monday’s actions leave the assault weapons laws in effect while appellate proceedings continue.
