Center for Workers’ Rights discusses EDD as fraud payouts rise to $20B

In an update on fraud, California’s Employment Development Department leaders said they now estimate $20 billion of the $177 billion paid out during the pandemic went to fraudulent claims.

The Center for Workers’ Rights has been pressing the state’s unemployment agency for change since filings skyrocketed during the pandemic.

Daniela Urban, the center’s executive director, joined Sonseeahray to discuss the latest developments.
