SACRAMENTO-

Not only is Greg Baughman hoping Assembly Bill 1322 passes, his business might just depend on it.

Baughman is the only distiller in Sacramento County, and currently distilleries are not allowed to sell their product, in fact they are not even allowed by law to tell customers where to purchase it.

However, AB 1322 would give distilleries similar rights as wineries and beer brewers, although with a limit.

Under the bill, distilleries would be allowed to sell up to three bottles of their product after what is considered an “educational tasting.”

“It would give the customer a chance to meet their distiller face to face, have that conversation and learn about the product they are making from the person who created it,” said Baughman.

If passed AB 1322 would become law in January of 2016.
