Crews Battle Fire in Santa Cruz Mountains

CLOVERDALE (AP) — Fire crews are rushing to fight a vegetation fire burning in the Santa Cruz Mountains that has charred about 200 acres and is burning near radio repeater towers and several homes.

Authorities say about 300 homes are threatened.

The Santa Cruz Sentinel reports the blaze was reported Monday afternoon on the southern edge of Santa Clara County.

Authorities say residents in the area evacuating their homes.

A large plume of smoke can be seen from neighboring Monterey County.
