SOUTH GATE, Calif. (AP) — Los Angeles County authorities are searching for an alleged hit-and-run driver following a crash that killed two people and injured five others in the city of South Gate.

Police say 22-year-old Bryan Rojas had an injury to his forehead when he fled the scene of the violent two-vehicle collision Saturday.

Authorities say one of the vehicles hit the other, which slammed into a pole.

County fire officials said two people were killed, three were in critical condition and two had minor injuries.

Coroner’s officials on Sunday identified those killed as 15-year-old Angie Ruiz and 55-year-old Lester Larios, both from the city of Bell.

South Gate is about eight miles south of downtown Los Angeles.
