An SUV crashed along South Austin Road near Highway 99 in Ripon Tuesday evening, sending eight people to the hospital.
Several people were thrown from the vehicle, and investigators believe they weren’t wearing seat belts.
Traffic has been diverted around the accident while crews clean up and investigate.
California Highway Patrol told FOX40 that the driver had shifted to put on a seat belt when he bumped the steering wheel, causing the SUV to flip.
