WATERFORD-

Stanislaus County Sheriff’s deputies say a man was shot and killed early Tuesday morning in Waterford.

A report of a shooting came in around 1:30 a.m. after someone said his friend had been shot in front of a home on B Street near Bentley Street. Waterford Middle School is also near where the shooting happened.

Mario Ramos-Alvarez, 20, was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

Investigators say witnesses saw a dark-colored, four door compact car with a man inside firing a shot at Ramos-Alvarez and his friend. The gunman was reportedly wearing a red baseball cap.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to Det. Frank Soria at (209) 525-7080, or can leave an anonymous tip by calling (209) 521-4636.
