Two men were arrested in South Sacramento Sunday night after police say their cars collided with each other – and both were drunk.
The accident happened along 47nd Avenue and Leola Way.
But, if drunk driving charges weren’t bad enough, police say both men had minor children in their cars with them while they were driving under the influence.
A boy who just celebrated his seventh birthday earlier in the day was taken to hospital with the most serious injuries.
In the other car, a 13-year-old girl and her grandfather who was driving both fled scene after accident. Police say both ran in different directions but were apprehended shortly after.
FOX40 spoke exclusively with uncle of the 7-year-old boy and his message was clear:
“I hope people see this and it’s a lesson … Don’t drive drunk,” he said.
The uncle says that the boy is expected to be OK.
