PLACERVILLE-

As production crews spent the morning setting up, our cameras got a behind the scenes look at a new comedy/thriller called “Meet the Blacks.”

Director Deon Taylor takes viewers into the home of a Beverly Hills family where comedian Mike Epps stars as Mr. Black.

“You know when we all come together we become a family,” Epps said.

“The story actually follows a family that moves into a huge mansion. Just when they think everything is going to be alright, it’s not,” Taylor said.

With other big names like Gary Owens, George Lopez and Mike Tyson, movie goers are almost guaranteed a good laugh.

“The cool thing about it is, I don’t think we have had this generations ‘Car Wash’ or ‘Harlem Nights’ where you get a lot of comics together,” said Owens. “They give you the script and then they let you go make it funny.”

The Beverly Hills style mansion the movie is filmed in is located in Placerville.

“The people are really really warm. It is a nice place. We are shooting on a ranch. They have horses. It is really really exhilarating for me,” said Epps.

The project is one of 8 being shot in El Dorado County where Taylor and the El Dorado/Lake Tahoe Film & Media Office have pushed to make Northern California the  new Hollywood.

“Say thank you very much to Mayor Kevin Johnson. He has been doing a lot of stuff in the film world and pushing to really get a lot of films up here,” said Taylor.

“Mark my words on this, in the next year, Deon Taylor is going to blow up in Hollywood. He is amazingly talented,” Commissioner, Kathleen Dodge.

“Meet The Blacks” is scheduled to hit theaters at the beginning of 2015.

Taylor has many other films,  one of which is being released for consideration of an Oscar.
