A homeless man is accusing Manteca Police of brutality, but Police Chief Nick Obligacion argues that the officer was only defending himself.

Robert Olvera told FOX40 on Wednesday that he was attacked by police, despite surrendering. Police released body camera video Thursday, showing that there was actually a struggle between Olvera and Officer Ben Cromwell.

The clip, lasting more than five minutes, shows Cromwell repeatedly hitting Olvera and, at one point, even using a Taser.

Obligacion says Olvera “violently” grabbed Cromwell’s testicles, and that Cromwell had to defend himself.
