STOCKTON — The Stockton Fire Department is fighting a fire in downtown Stockton on N. El Dorado Street.
The Buckenham’s Auto Repair business caught fire around 9 a.m. Wednesday.
The shop owner Michael Buckenham says an employee was draining the gasoline from a car they were servicing and it sparked but they are unsure what caused the spark.
“It’s always a concern, absolutely. We’ve got fire extinguishers all over the place but when a gasoline fire goes up all over the place, a fire extinguisher is pretty much useless…it’s a mess. Pretty devastating but we will get through it,” Buckenham explained.
Seven cars were damaged during the fire.
Two people were transported to the hospital. Their injuries are not known at this time.
The Stockton Police Department is on the scene for traffic control.
