First Travel-Related Case of Zika Virus Confirmed in Stanislaus County

STANISLAUS COUNTY — A 19-year-old Stanislaus County resident has tested positive for the Zika virus, according to the county health services agency.

The teen contracted the virus during travel outside the United States.

As of June 20, the CDC says all Zika cases reported in the U.S. were acquired as a result of travel outside the country.

The CDC says being careful about travel is the most effective way to protect from the Zika virus.
