SACRAMENTO-

The first three days of Sacramento’s Fix 50 construction project has gone smoothly, thanks in no small part to its traffic monitoring center.

With nearly a hundred live cameras, the crew inside can keep tabs on every major road, highway and intersection that may be impacted by the Highway 50 retrofit.

“People have been taking the alternate routes, taking the side streets. So moving through downtown has actually not been as bad as we thought,” transportation operations worker Mollie Chicon said.

If one area becomes congested, they can alter traffic signals to help with relief.
