Flipped Box Truck Blocking Traffic on Highway 99

ELK GROVE — A box truck has flipped on Highway 99 in Elk Grove blocking traffic.

The truck was driving north and ended up flipping over the center divide into the southbound lanes near Elk Grove Blvd.

The cause of the accident is unknown at this time.

The truck driver was able to get out safely. No injuries have been reported.

Drivers should expect bumper-to-bumper traffic on 99 south due to this accident and another two-car accident up near Laguna Blvd.

Drivers should expect heavy traffic from downtown Sacramento to Lodi.

Southbound 99 is reduced to one lane. CHP hopes to have a second lane open soon.

Frontage Road along Highway 99 is open to traffic and can get drivers around the accident.

There is no estimated time of opening.
