Nurses Walking Out

Thousands of nurses are set to go on strike this morning at five Sutter Hospitals in Northern California, including the Sutter Roseville Medical Center.

Sutter nurses are among the 5,000 RN’s who will be on strike this week called by the California Nurses Association and National Nurses United.

The nurses are taking a stand over contract negotiations and staffing.

Sacramento Black Lives Matter Organizer in Court

20-year-old Maile Hampton will appear before a judge today at the Sacramento County Superior Court.

She faces a felony charge of “lynching” from a peaceful anti-police brutality rally back in January. That’s when she was caught on camera trying to free a fellow protester from police custody.

Hampton is being represented pro bono by prominent Sacramento defense attorney, Linda Parisi.

Bassmaster Elite Tournament

Sacramento is hosting the 2015 Bassmaster Elite Tournament on the Sacramento river starting today.

The tournament will put 113 fisherman against each other as they compete for the $100,000 prize.

The event will run until Sunday, May 3.
