A wind-driven brush fire that began off the 101 Freeway in Camarillo has grown to more than 6,500 acres, forcing some residents from their homes.

The blaze, dubbed the Springs Fire, started around 6:45 a.m. just west of the southbound 101 near Camarillo Springs Road.

The California Highway Patrol closed the Pacific Coast Highway between Yerba Buena Road and Las Posas Road just before 1 p.m. as flames continue to spread to the West.

The fire spread rapidly in the steep terrain, and remains uncontained.

No homes have burned, but Sky5 was overhead as flames consumed nearly half a dozen RVs in a storage parking area.

Several agricultural buildings also burned in the middle of a strawberry field.
