DALY CITY –
Thousands of people woke up before the sun Tuesday morning, in hopes of becoming the very last American Idol.
San Francisco-Daly City was the last open audition site for the show’s final season.
Senior Producer, Patrick Lynn has been with the show for all 15 seasons. He said he will miss the mornings of open auditions, when they discover raw talent.
“It hasn’t changed since season one. We’re looking for the wow factor,” Lynn said. “Who is going to be in that crowd? I remember Phil Phillips, who was this just quiet guy in line, nice guy, he was playing his guitar. But when he got inside the room in Savannah Georgia, he was a superstar.”
Season 9 Idol Winner, Lee DeWyze also made an appearance for the crowd. He sat along the producers, looking for the next Idol winner.
“Good music and a good voice is recognized. So you should just play to your strengths and just have fun,” DeWyze advised.
The last and final 15th season of American Idol airs on Fox beginning January, 2016.
