A massive tree crashed in East Sacramento early, damaging the front of a home, cracking a driveway, crushing a car, blocking a truck and leaving some neighbors wondering if a bomb went off.

John Haman, owner of Haman Tree Service, says the tree along 46th street between M and J Streets likely weighs around 100,000 pounds.

He says the tree’s age and this weekend’s weather were likely factors in tipping it over. Winds gusts were as high as 30 mph in East Sacramento on Saturday.

Neighbors who live two blocks away said their homes shook when the tree fell over. No one was injured, but many in the neighborhood thought the sound was from a train crash or car accident.

Haman also said three other trees close to the fallen tree would have to be uprooted because they posed a risk. He said his crew would spend all of Monday moving the trees.
