SACRAMENTO-

Dusty Baker is out of baseball after a 45 year career.

Baker may be this area’s best known and most accomplished contribution to Major League Baseball. Baker, well known to San Francisco Giants fans as a former manager of the Giants, started his baseball career as player in 1968.

He retired as a player after the 1986 season, and he went right into coaching. Baker landed his first manager’s job with the Giants in 1993.

He also managed the Cubs and Reds, who fired him last fall.

Now, with Major League teams in spring training, Baker is home, unsure of what he would like to do next.
