STOCKTON — A 15-year-old boy is now in juvenile hall on homicide charges in connection to the killing of two teenage boys.

“Once we figured out exactly who the suspect was we knew that he was very violent,” said Stockton Police Department spokesman Joe Silva. “So that’s why we had to get him off the streets before he could hurt someone else. So our detectives did a great job yesterday and we were able to start bringing closure to both of our homicide victims’ families.”

Silva said finding those teens’ killer has been a priority.

Nicholas Sihalath, 14, and 15-year-old Advan Vang were riding their bikes just after midnight Feb. 24 along Montauban Avenue when they were shot multiple times. Vang was pronounced dead at the scene and Sihalath died at the hospital.

Silva said detectives have been working around the clock and were able to track down the teenage killer to his northeast Stockton home, where he was arrested Wednesday.

He said what’s most disturbing about the case is the young age of the victims and the suspected teenage killer.

The police department is working with the community to try and prevent something like this from happening again.

“It’s very concerning to us here at the police department,” Silva said. “That’s why we’re working with the Office of Violence Prevention and other nonprofits who deal specifically with youth just to try to figure out exactly what’s going on and trying to also understand how we can keep these guns out of the hands of these young kids.”

FOX40 reached out to the victims’ families and they declined to talk until after the suspect is arraigned Friday. They did say they plan to be in court.
