6-Year-Old Shot in South Sacramento; Sheriff’s Department Investigating

SOUTH SACRAMENTO -- A 6-year-old girl was shot at the corner of Fruitridge Road and Lawrence Drive in South Sacramento on Tuesday night, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department said.

The shooting happened about 7:20 p.m. The girl was shot in the arm as her family drove through the intersection. Several shots were fired, hitting the car.

The girl was taken to an area hospital. Her condition is not known at this time, but the sheriff's department called her injuries non-life threatening.

The shooting may be gang related, according to the sheriff's department.

The sheriff's department described the suspect vehicle as a white SUV.
