TURLOCK, Calif. (KTXL) — A student who was pulled from the bottom of the pool at Turlock High School on Friday has died, according to the school.

“It is with deep sadness we inform our Bulldog community that THS senior Angel Nikael Ramos Dominguez, Jr. has passed this evening as a result of an accidental drowning that occurred after hours in the THS pool on Friday night,” the school said.

According to a statement from the Turlock School District, a group that included Turlock High School students entered the locked pool at Turlock High School. While the group was in the pool, they noticed Angel Dominguez Jr. had not risen to the surface.

After attempting to remove Dominguez from the water, the group got the assistance of the Turlock High School Athletic Director, who was still on campus due to the school’s football game.

The athletic director called 911, and according to a news release from the Modesto Fire Department, when they arrived on the scene, they pulled Dominguez out of the water and started life-saving measures.

The American Medical Response team also arrived on the scene and began advanced life support treatment. The fire crews continued CPR and were able to achieve the return of spontaneous circulation.

Dominguez was then taken to a local emergency medical center for further medical assistance, but he died on Monday.
