Where to Take Your Christmas Tree for Recycling

Recycling centers will be open to accept Christmas trees.

In Sacramento, the final day to put your tree in your leaf can or pile is Jan. 31. You can check your “Leaf Season” schedule by clicking here or calling 311.

There are also a number of recycling centers open to drop off your tree.

Kiefer Landfill, at 12701 Kiefer Boulevard and Grant Line Road, Sloughhouse, CA 95683. Open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 3 and 4.

North Area Recovery Station, at 4450 Roseville Road, North Highlands, CA 95660. Open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Jan. 3 and 4.

A few other area centers will be accepting Christmas trees throughout the season. They are listed below:

Elder Creek Recovery and Transfer: 8642 Elder Creek Road, Jan. 3 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Also will be accepting trees from Dec. 26 to Jan. 31.

SMUD Corporation Yard: 6100 Folsom Boulevard. Jan. 3 only, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Sacramento Recycling and Transfer Station: 8491 Fruitridge Road, Jan. 3 from 8 a.m to 5 p.m. Will also accept trees from Dec. 26 to Jan. 31, Monday-Saturday.

Dan Russell Rodeo Arena: Folsom City Park, on Jan. 3 and 4 from  9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
