SOUTH SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KTXL) -- Two people were shot Tuesday night in South Sacramento and one of the shooting victims has died.

Around 6 p.m., 911 calls came into the sheriff's office about a shooting in the area of 42nd Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Sacramento County Sheriff's Sgt. Tess Deterding said multiple ShotSpotters also picked up the gunfire.

Deputies went to the South Sacramento neighborhood, where they found a 47-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man with gunshot wounds, according to Deterding.

Deterding says after both victims were hospitalized, the man died from his wounds.

Neighbors told FOX40 they heard around 30 to 40 gunshots near Rainbow Mini Park.

One man was at the scene screaming that his mother had been shot. The identities of the victims have not been reported by investigators.

There have been no details released about the shooter or shooters or a motive in the shooting.

This story is developing.

Correction: Originally, authorities reported a third shooting victim had been located at a nearby hospital. The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office now says this shooting only involved two victims. This story has since been corrected.
