CARMICHAEL — The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide in a Carmichael neighborhood near Mercy San Juan Hospital.

When sheriff’s deputies got to the location of a 911 call shortly after 6 a.m. Friday, they found a green Ford Explorer parked cockeyed on the curb.

There were indications the engine was still running, investigators said, and a man with signs of trauma was found inside. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released by the coroner’s office.

Neighbor Riley Rogers says she’s often seen the green SUV, but doesn’t know who owns it.

“It parks in front of my car all the time,” she said.

The nature of the man’s injuries and how he got them has not been revealed, nor is it clear if he was alone when the vehicle pulled over.
