SACRAMENTO COUNTY — Authorities are investigating a shooting involving the Drug Enforcement Administration in Sacramento County.

The shooting happened near 9600 Palm Grove Drive in Rancho Cordova around 6:30 a.m. when officers were executing a federal search warrant with the assistance of U.S. Marshals.

When officers announced themselves and entered the front door, they said they were confronted by a man pointing a handgun at them.

Officers responded by firing shots at the male suspect.

The suspect was shot in the hand and transported to UC Davis hospital for treatment.

Officers also arrested another man, who was the target of the warrant and then searched the home.

Sacramento County Sheriff PIO Sgt. Tess Deterding said officers located several firearms in the home.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office will be the investigating agency.

It’s not clear if the U.S. Marshal who fired his weapon has been placed on leave.

The DEA is continuing its own investigation into the past activity that happened within that home.
