STANISLAUS COUNTY — In the darkness along rural Griffin Road north of Turlock Sunday evening was a ball of fire. Flames shot out from a car.

When firefighters arrived around 7:30 p.m. they found a body inside the passenger side of the car.

A neighbor in the area told FOX40 he heard an explosion prior to the flames; he’s also the same person who called 911.

Four days later, on Thursday, the Coroner’s Office was able to identify the victim as 39-year-old Juan Carlos Ledesma-Infante of Stockton. The Stanislaus County Corner’s Office said they were unable to immediately identify Ledesma-Infante’s body because it was so badly burned and traditional fingerprinting would not work.

Right now investigators do not have any suspects or possible motives.

Anyone with information about what happened is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636.
