NEVADA COUNTY —

Divers searching for a missing Elk Grove man in the waters near Nevada City’s Emerald Pools Waterfall have discovered a body, according to the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office.

Omar Chaar, 25, of Elk Grove, went missing Sunday after sliding down the falls.

“I don’t know what happened, or how it happened, but he ended up on the left side of the waterfall — and it’s like an eddy or whirlpool.  The water keeps going in circles,” Chaar’s friend Obaid Rasooli told FOX40 earlier this week.

Divers had been searching the area since Sunday. Wednesday, they found that at the base of the waterfall, about 30 feet down, the water had created a hole. That is where divers discovered a body.

Chaar’s family has been notified of the discovery. No official identification has been released.
