In a matter of four days, police say the Barton Art Gallery in midtown Sacramento was burglarized three times.

The person, who police have identified as 43-year-old Gregory Knecht, made away with $10,000 in artwork. Wednesday, Knecht was arrested and booked on multiple counts of burglary.

The burglar, according to a neighbor who lives above the gallery, cut his hand while breaking in. And like the old tale of Hansel and Gretel, he allegedly left a two-block trail of blood on the ground from the gallery in the on I street, to the corner of 16th and J.

For now, the gallery is closed and the owners do not plan to re-open it unless they can get their stuff back.
