SACRAMENTO — Both directions of Highway 50 have reopened after a suicidal man was taken into custody, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Caltrans reported the closure around 2:45 p.m. Sunday. By 5:10 p.m., drivers were free to use the highway between Howe Avenue and Bradshaw Road.

The CHP reports crisis negotiators with the Sacramento Police Department contacted the man, who was pointing a gun to his head. A viewer shared a photograph with FOX40 that shows several police cars behind a single vehicle that is stopped in the middle of the roadway.
CHP officials have not said what led to the incident or why the man was arrested. However, he could face charges for brandishing a firearm and unlawful evading.
