You might have to take a double take come October along Capitol Mall.

“We will be painting the bike lanes green,” says Ed Cox with the City of Sacramento.

To convey how cyclist friendly the city of Sacramento is, the bike lanes will be painted bright green from 3rd to 9th streets along Capitol Mall – following in the footsteps of San Francisco, Los Angeles and even West Sacramento, to name a few.

The project will cost about $40,000, according to the city, and it will come out of a budget meant to maintain the roadways.

“By making the lanes more obvious, we will hopefully attract people to use the bike lanes, and to know they can ride in them safely,” Cox told FOX40 Tuesday.

Last year, the city says there were 179 reported bike collisions. However, zero were along Capitol Mall.
