SACRAMENTO-

A CHP chase ended Thursday night with officers’ guns drawn directly in front of the FOX40 studio on Fruitridge Road.

The standoff ultimately ended after the man dropped his gun and was tackled by a CHP K-9 officer.

Prior to that, the man was stopped in his car at Fruitridge Road and Lawrence Drive, and had a gun to his head.

Officers say the chase started as a routine traffic stop near Power Inn Road. It was not yet clear why officers originally wanted to pull the man over.

Family at the scene says the man, identified as Cory Thomas, suffers from mental health issues.
