FAIRFIELD —

Two men were arrested early Sunday morning in Fairfield on Concord Court after police said they went from mailbox to mailbox stealing what was inside.

Korey Smith, 30, and Michael Anderson, 34, were arrested just after 1 a.m. Sunday when someone noticed suspicious activity and alerted the Fairfield Police Department.

The Fairfield Police Department said Smith and Anderson were caught with numerous pieces of mail from five different houses on Concord Court.

Smith was arrested for petty theft, possession of stolen property, criminal conspiracy and violation of probation. Anderson was arrested for criminal conspiracy.

Both men are from Fairfield.

“I’m totally shocked and surprised. This neighborhood is very quiet,” said Concord Court resident Aziz Mohammed.

Police said mail and package theft is high during the holidays.

Ways to keep what’s yours out of the wrong hands includes: Buying a locking mailbox, taking outgoing mail to the post office instead of leaving it in your mailbox, picking up mail daily and putting a hold on your mail when you go on vacation.
