YUBA COUNTY --

A fire that started as a controlled burn in Yuba County got out of control and crossed burn lines on Thursday, according to Cal Fire.

This fire was burning southeast of Collins Lake, but north of Highway 20 and west of Smartsville.

The controlled burn was part of a training that began this morning at the Sierra Foothill Research and Extension Center. It started as a 25 acre fire, but quickly got out of control. It jumped the lines and became active about 2 p.m.

The fire, being called the Cook Fire, had burned about 180 acres as of 10 p.m. Thursday. It is 50 percent contained.

The fire is being battled on the ground and with air tankers.

Advisory evacuations have been issued for Ure Mountain, Regent Way and Winding Way.

No structures have been lost. Power lines are threatened, but haven't been damaged yet.
