RIO VISTA, Calif. (KTXL) — The Solano County Sheriff’s Office said four people died around 8 p.m. on Wednesday after a head-on crash along state Route 12 in Rio Vista.

The crash occurred between Summerset Road and Church Road, according to police.

The collision was between a 2003 Honda Accord, with three people inside, and a 2015 Chevrolet Suburban, with seven people inside, according to the Rio Vista Police Department.

Police said that all three occupants of the Honda were killed, which included a 20-year-old man from Rancho Cordova, a 19-year-old woman from Vacaville and a “Jane Doe”.

Laura Poiret, 70, of Mexico was the only victim from the Suburban, according to police. The Suburban was a family of Mexican nationals on a one-week vacation in the U.S.

Their Suburban also had a 13-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl inside, according to police, and they are currently in stable condition.

Police said that the Honda had veered off the roadway while it was heading westbound along Highway 12 and over-corrected, ending up in the eastbound lane, colliding with the Suburban.

The driver and the rear passenger of the Honda were ejected from the car upon impact, according to police.

Officers said they did discover numerous open alcoholic beverages in the Honda, but they are not yet saying if the driver was under the influence until a blood alcohol content test is provided by the coroner’s office.
