DIXON -- Dixon fire officials are responding to a downed aircraft in a rural area of Solano County, north of Dixon.

Investigators say the pilot and passenger, a man and woman in their 40s, were uninjured after landing in a vineyard. The family that owns the property said they saw a parachute and came to see what happened.

The plane, a 2010 SR22 Turbo X, was heading from Morgan Hill to Oregon when it experienced engine failure. Solano County Sheriff's Deputy Cully Pratt reports the pilot was attempting to land the plane at the Yolo County Airport, however, the aircraft was losing altitude too quickly.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident.
