PLACERVILLE–

A head-on collision along eastbound Highway 50 in Placerville Saturday night has taken the lives of four people.

A Prius going westbound is said to have turned into oncoming traffic for an unknown reason. The car then collided head-on into a minivan.

Three people, including one child, from the Prius have died. A fourth passenger, also a child, has survived.

An infant inside the minivan has died. The infant was properly restrained at the time. There were five passengers in total inside the minivan.

The condition of the surviving victims is not known at this time.

The accident is said to be near the Red Apple Cafe at the Still Meadow Road intersection of Highway 50. CHP says the crash happened just after 6 p.m.
