Deputies Investigating Deadly Shooting in North Highlands

NORTH HIGHLANDS —

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the shooting death of a man who was found in North Highlands on Sunday.

The victim is a black male in his late teens, according to the sheriff’s department. The man drove to a home on the 6400 block on Channing Drive about 11:45 a.m. Sunday. He got out of his car and told a woman he had been shot.

The man then collapsed at the scene and the woman called 911, deputies said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The location of the actual shooting is not known, investigators said. It is not known where the man was driving from.

Investigators think the man may have known people at a home on Channing Drive.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
