SACRAMENTO -- There was a bloody scene outside of the Larkspur Apartments on Evelyn Lane in Sacramento after an overnight shooting.

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department, the shooting at 2:15 a.m. Monday wounded a 30-year-old man. Paramedics rushed the victim to the hospital. He's expected to survive.

Several bullet casings and two bullet holes in a silver Honda were left behind.

Neighbor Jeanne Pietrok didn't hear the gunshots, but she says the police sirens woke her up.

"I just saw a lot of sheriff's [deputies] here and the tape across the road right in front of where I live so it was a little uncomfortable," Pietrok said.

Pietrok isn't the only resident who is alarmed. Levi Miranda is worried about his safety too. He moved into the complex less than a month ago

"Now my daughter is wondering because we stay here for almost 24 days here in Sacramento, you know. And this happens? And this happens," Miranda said.

Now, he's wondering if he made the right decision moving here.

"They told me it was safe," he said.
