A dark-colored sedan was headed west in eastbound lanes and reportedly struck multiple vehicles around 10 p.m. Tuesday.
CHP first received a call for a wrong-way driver in a dark Ford Mustang going west on eastbound I-80 near Watt Avenue.
The female driver then sideswiped a Chevy Impala near Raley Blvd. and continued going the wrong way.
As the Mustang approached Northgate Blvd. it struck a male driver in a white Challenger in a head-on collision.
Both drivers were killed on impact.
At this time it is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in this incident.
All lanes of eastbound Interstate 80 were shut down for a little over two hours.
